In todays world it is so easy to be inspired by a new idea, because we are surrounded by thousands of exciting things, that try to catch our attention.

I felt overwhelmed while I was studying in the university in Berlin, some years ago. I loved the topic I was studying. The life in Berlin was fulfilled with exciting places, new people and lots of possibilities. Especially in summer, when everybody was outside trying to enjoy the beautiful city life.

I loved to start something new, as often every new day seemed the same as the day before. I wanted a new change in my life, so I started to search for new possibilities that were exciting enough.

Do you also experience this from time to time?

To start a change in my life, I decided to start practicing sport while I was studying. My plan was to workout every week. I love the feeling after a great workout. Where I am so tired, and in the same time, i feel fulfilled.

As I lived in Berlin and studied a lot, I did every day something important for the university. I had no time for something else. I was concerned if I would be able to do workout every day.

The people I was surround by were all students and almost nobody was fascinated enough to do workout on a regular basis.

1. Surprise yourself with something new every time

I was aware, if I don’t introduce any variety in my workout routine, for example if i do the exact same workout every day or do it in the same room where i sleep and learn, then the motivation might fade out.

So I searched for some fitness clubs, which had a reasonable membership price.

I needed a change of environment for my workouts. I also search to meet some people, who inspire me to embrace this new identity. This would give me the experience of something new. I wanted the feeling of excitement.

2. Connect people you know with your new Idea

The more people you connect to your new idea, the easier it is for you.

As anybody I knew, was busy with learning for the exams, it was not easy for me to find people who were willing to support me. So I started to tell everybody that I decided to workout every week and asked them to join me.

On the other side, I tried to connect with people in the fitness club and make new friends. But I was an introvert and it was not easy for me to make friends in the fitness club.

Why is it so important to connect other people to your new idea?

If you tell other people what you have decided to do, they will create an expectation about you. If you find excuses and don’t accomplish what you talked about, they will be disappointed by you, and stop trusting you anymore.

The only one way not to disappoint others, is to do what you promise.

3. Connect as many different topics with your new idea as you can

I started to exchange with other people, to not lose my motivation for the workout.

I started to read books about health and food, so that i would be in a better shape.

I began to buy more healthy food to support my workout.

As i was a student and didn’t have a lot of money, it was not easy for me to do all the necessary things and to buy healthy food i needed. In this case, I became creative and try to search for possibilities to eat healthy with low budget. It was not easy for me, but I still found a number of ways to do this.

If you can connect a lot of things with your new idea, it becomes easy for you, to stay motivated to execute your idea. Because everything will remind you of your goal.

4. Do it before other things in your todo list

Our life is so busy. We try to learn so many things. So many people and companies try to catch our attention.

The new technology is so amazing, that it is very difficult not to be distracted.

All the people who surround us, tell us about new possibilities and try to inspire us for the things they love.

When I was a student in Berlin some years ago, I had a lot of tasks. I learned every day. I drove several times a week to the library. I talked with people about new amazing ideas. I met new people in Berlin which me things I didn’t know before. There were so many exhibitions in the city that I could not manage to visit them all.

I tried to learn from my past, and I recognized that a lot of tasks needed more time than what I usually planed for them. I was distracted and losing time during daily life. At the end, I was not able to accomplish all tasks as planned.

That’s why I started/decided to do my workouts first thing in the morning. This way, all the unexpected distractions would not stop me from my goal of doing workout regularly.

5. Take the time you need, to create a habit

Every time we don’t accomplish a task, we feel disappointed and lose trust in ourselves.

The problem is, that it is almost impossible to accomplish any new idea without being distracted by something else during the first weeks.

But with each new distraction from our new idea, we lose our motivation and sometimes we give up. Then people tend to say, “It’s not for me”, “I tried everything”, “It was not really mine”, “This is not the right time”, etc.

But the point is, to look at it from a longer time perspective.

We musst create a new habit with our new idea, which we want to implement in our live.

As soon this new idea become a habit, we start doing this without thinking about it.

This is the key to success for anything you want to implement in your life.

Try first to create a new habit. The habit will influence your life and force you to do what needed.

Remind all the people who want to stop smoking, try to loose wight or to learn something new. Only the established habit determine if they will succeed or not.

So if you focus only on creating a new habit, you will become more successful, as if you focus on the task itself.

You must be flexible

At the end, you need the ability to be flexible and change every time something in your behavior. To implement new ideas in your life, you need to optimize every time something that didn’t work.
